Motion AI

Mastery, read in motion

One capability — pose & motion analysis — that quantifies human mastery across domains. The same AI reads a surgeon's precision, a dancer's grace, and a martial artist's discipline.

The capability

Not body-detection — mastery-detection

Commodity AI can find a person in a frame. The craft is reading how a master moves — tracking skeletal keypoints over time and turning them into the measures that actually matter. One pipeline; many kinds of expertise.

Three masters, one AI

The same technique, across three worlds

Proof-of-concept.Frame-by-frame hand tracking on the Symani® joystick, shown here on a publicly broadcast Cedars-Sinai segment. The validated pipeline behind it goes further — dual instrument-tip tracking, segmentation-based vessel & tissue tracking, and dynamic focal-area zoom — developed and measured against real intraoperative research footage (not shown publicly; see results below).

Surgery

Robotic microsurgery — the Symani® system at Cedars-Sinai

The AI reads:

  • Instrument-tip path & steadiness
  • Tremor & smoothness (velocity / jerk)
  • Bimanual left–right coordination
  • Vessel & tissue region tracking (segmentation-based)

Objective surgeon performance

Pose analysis — coming soonVideo & analysis ready — publishing once the artist consents.
Dance

Argentine tango — the lead's craft (with the artist's consent)

The AI reads:

  • Posture & torso lean
  • Cadence, stride, weight transfers
  • Pelvis sway & torso–hip dissociation
  • Lead–follow synchrony

Grace & partnered coordination

Pose analysis — coming soonVideo pending the master's consent.
Martial arts

A traditional master's form (with the master's consent)

The AI reads:

  • Stance stability & base
  • Weight transfer & timing
  • Balance through the strike
  • Form consistency, rep to rep

Discipline & control

Real cases, real numbers

What the pipeline actually measures

The pipeline tracks instrument tips and vessel & tissue regions through a full case, and derives objective measures of technique from that motion. It has been validated on real intraoperative Symani® microsurgery research cases — footage and figures stay confidential, because patient privacy and our partners’ trust come first.

Quantitative results available under confidentiality

Validated tracking metrics from real intraoperative cases are shared with clinical and institutional partners under confidentiality — not published here.

Why it matters

One capability, many masters

A capability that reads mastery in the operating room can read it on the dance floor and in the dojo — because mastery, in any domain, shows up in how the body moves under intent. That is the whole HIOAI thesis in miniature: a master's mastery, quantified and rendered as craft AI — reusable, measurable, and yours.

And motion is only one lens. Motion AI is one capability among many — HIOAI builds full-stack applied AI across domains, from clinical decision-making to cybersecurity and governance. See how we build →
